Freaky Deaky 2022

Freaky Deaky 2022 wasn’t the most stacked lineup I’ve ever seen, but it nailed the thing that matters most for a Halloween festival: the vibe.

The costumes were the main attraction before the music even started: creative, chaotic, and people fully committing to the bit. I went as “Prince Hanz,” which felt like the right balance of dumb and on-theme.

The highlight: Subtronics

Subtronics was the clear standout. Even if you didn’t come for the lineup, his set alone justified the night. The pacing, the switches, the crowd control: he had the whole place locked in.

The real reason the night worked

As usual, the best part was my friends: Gabe and Peter. We didn’t over-plan anything. We just moved with the music, laughed a lot, and ended up with the kind of shared memories that stick.

That’s Freaky Deaky in a nutshell: not perfect on paper, but extremely fun if you show up ready to lean into the night.
